Project Details

Project Narrative / Overview

1. General Requirements

  • Provide all labor and materials to insulate building thermal envelope.
  • Comply with current REScheck or local energy code requirements.
  • Clean up all scraps and over-spray.

2. Thermal Insulation

  • Install fiberglass batts or blown-in cellulose in exterior walls (R-Value per plan).
  • Install spray foam (Open or Closed cell) in roof deck or joist ends (rim joist).
  • Blow insulation into attic space to achieve specified depth/R-Value.
  • Insulate floors over unconditioned spaces (garages/crawlspaces).

3. Air Sealing (Draft Stop)

  • Foam or caulk all penetrations through top and bottom plates (wires, pipes).
  • Seal around windows and doors with low-expansion foam.
  • Install baffles (vents) in attic to ensure airflow from soffits.
  • Seal can lights and electrical boxes to prevent air leakage.

4. Sound Control (Optional)

  • Install sound batt insulation in bathroom and laundry room walls.
  • Insulate floor joists between levels for sound dampening.

5. Exclusions

  • House wrap installation (usually Framer).
  • Fire caulking of mechanical penetrations (usually Trade specific).
  • Removal of hazardous materials (asbestos).
